una intervista
Andrea Ricci classe 1963, maestro di SUP dal 2013, grande appassionato di escursionismo fluviale, dopo questo lockdown, da quando è stato possibile ricominciare a praticare individualmente lo sport, ha deciso di fare la discesa integrale del fiume Ombrone.
Perché?
Mi piace esplorare i fiumi nella loro interezza, varietà di paesaggi e di acque. L'Ombrone era da anni nella mia lista dei desideri.
Da dove ti sei imbarcato e quante tappe e km hai percorso?
Ho deciso di partire sul fiume Arbia, che fino alla confluenza con l'Ombrone ha maggiore volume di quest'ultimo. Sono partito da Ponte d'Arbia e in 5 tappe sono arrivato fino alla riserva di Alberese. 110km in tutto
Quali sono state le tue impressioni sullo stato del fiume?
Il fiume soffre della mancanza di acqua, come tutti i fiumi. Il paesaggio è molto naturale e per la maggior parte del suo percorso non si vede antropizzazione, se non per radi sentierini di pescatori. Poca immondizia e acqua abbastanza pulita, soprattutto verso valle, perché a monte la schiuma in superficie è frequente.
Quali sono secondo te le potenzialità di questo fiume?
Se scoperto con l'atteggiamento e l'attenzione di gruppi rispettosi dell'ambiente, come notoriamente la vostra associazione Terramare, è un fiume dal fascino straordinario: una immersione nell'outdoor selvaggio, ma non pericoloso e vicino casa.
Perché hai deciso di scendere con l tavola? Quali sono i vantaggi di navigare in sup?
La postura più alta e aperta rispetto alla canoa permette di apprezzare meglio l'ambiente. Inoltre con il sup, scendere, trasportare la tavola e risalire, è molto più agevole: dato il basso livello delle acque ciò è un vantaggio essenziale.

The first 5 kms are Arbia river. All along the Arbia river, tree trunks on the river bed, to be climbed over. Situation gets better on the Ombrone river. Scenery is not interesting nor beautiful but for the last kms

This section of the Ombrone river is protected area and navigation is forbidden, also for canoes. My friend Guido Morandini, as Rai documentary director, had got a special permission to film the area paddling with me on a canoe: my RTM OceanQuatro sit-on-top :)

da Sasso d'Ombrone a Campagnatico, 18km, WW2
data di ultima effettuazione del percorso
febbraio 2019, livello acqua -30 da idrometro Sasso d’Ombrone. Percorso molto carino con alcuni tratti di calma piatta, ma dinamico in molti altri. Paesaggio incantevole, acqua pulita di colore verdastro. Con idrometro -20 sarebbe perfetto.

Comodo, ci si arriva da un bel piazzale. Sotto al ponte poco più a monte c’è una bella ondina surfabile. A 100 mt dalla partenza c’è una rapidina. Con livello basso va scelta bene la linea per non impuntare. Poco più avanti al centro del fiume si trovano resti di un vecchio ponte in pietra.

Albero di traverso, si può passare sotto, ma va impostata bene la linea perché prima c’è un ramo esposto che potrebbe complicare le cose. E’ possibile il trasbordo.
