When a customer installs Trimble Access using the Trimble Installation Manager (TIM), a number of additional items are shown, including all Scapi plugin applications that are available for public use, and for which the device is licensed.
To be included in this list, a plugin is required to pass the Trimble approval process. For the initial approval and all subsequent updates, the plugin must be deployed by uploading it to a Trimble server where it becomes available for TIM to display in the selection list and to download and install on the customer's device.
A plugin deployment web service is used to upload the installer file(s) and configure them for TIM.
Trimble Access itself is used to authenticate the user when logging into this deployment service. This is a new method; the previous way to authenticate was by using a Google email account. That method is still available for use but may be withdrawn in the future.
The following steps outline how to deploy a Scapi Application to TIM :
This system requires the developer to have a Trimble ID, which is used by Trimble customers for online services amongst other uses. Signing up is free here at trimble.com. This email address must additionally be registered with Trimble for Scapi development, also free.
To access the Scapi deployment web pages, start Trimble Access and on the Project form (the first form that appears after startup), log into Trimble using the licensed email address. Wait for the login icon to turn green before proceeding.
If you have previously logged in to Trimble on the device, it may log you in automatically on subsequent sessions; you may have to wait a little for this to complete (icon turns green).
Open the Application chooser form (the item with the ᎒᎒᎒ icon in the main menu), and there should be a Deploy softkey at the bottom of the form. Pressing this will open your browser and show the deployment upload page. (This page is known to be slow and may require a reload first time).
If the the Deploy button does not appear, a problem with the Trimble ID or log-in is indicated. Exiting and re-entering the form may help.
The applications and current selection on the Application chooser form are immaterial and have no affect on the deployment process.
Follow the instructions to upload and configure your application.
The Deploy softkey only appears on the Application chooser form if the device has a reliable internet connection, logging-in has been completed, and the logged-in user's Trimble account has a Scapi development subscription.
