The main idea that I had for my negative space leaves was to have a sense of chaos behind the white leaves, I wanted to incorporate a spooky vibe into this piece and I did so by adding the jack-o-lantern, the skulls, and the skeleton man. I wanted to add a lot of color to add the contrast from the white space, but I didn't want to add too many things going on in the background of the negative space, so I filled the rest of the white space with scribbles.
For my negative space leaves project, I started by drawing the leaves with a graphite pencil, and then traced over with a sharpie pen. For the background of the leaves, I started each drawing in pen, and I colored the space with paint markers.
I hadn't known what I was going to do for this project before I started, i've been really into the spooky season and drawing skulls and pumpkins, so I incorporated that into the piece. I started with the skull man, then I added the jack-o-lantern, I thought it was boring by itself so I added a body to the pumpkin head. I then drew 8 little skulls around the page. When coloring the drawings, I didn't want the colors to necessarily make sense, so I wanted to make the skeleton man to be a very pale light pink, although I chose the wrong color, I don't love the color it ended up as but it fit with the rest.
