Marker

9" x 12"

My main focus when working on this project was to really try and get the message across. I wanted it to look inviting and mean something to people. I wanted to make sure that the heart looked important so I made it to the center obviously. I didn't want it to look serious even though it's a serious topic, i made the yellow bright in the dark blacks and greys around it.

I used purely marker on this project, I started with the lightest shade of black or grey and put it down as a base layer for the rest of the colors so that I wasn't putting it down on straight white. I made little lines/etches with the flat tip of the marker. In the black, I added white lines as clouds to almost indicate that the black was smoke/fog. I did the same thing for the yellow portion, I wanted it to be very light and glowy. And for the heart and the hands, I colored them with one color outlining them with a darker shade of that color.

I actually had a clear idea of what I wanted to do for this project.  This project didn't take too much time and I felt that I was super focused on it. My process for this project was to make it look neat and clean and to make it look very pretty. I am happy with the outcome of the piece and it looked relatively like I wanted it to look from the beginning. The only thing that I wish I could've done better on was the hands holding the heart. I feel like they look messy and if I were to do them again, I think I would've chosen a better position to put the hands in.
