Sustained Investigation #1

The goal of this three piece project as a whole was to ask an inquiry question and in a form of art answer your question. You needed to use materials that connect with your topic. My inquiry question is, how do dreams stem from our real lives? My main goal was to use material that I hadn't used before and try to make something that is very cloud-like. 

For my materials I used, a wooden canvas, that I stained with black ink and drew ontop of with white and pink ink pens. I then glued cotton and cotton balls around and in a mass at the center of the canvas. I then used watercolor to add the splotches on the cotton with lavender oil in the water use. I then glued yarn with beads  to dangle down. 

This project didn't turn out the way that I wanted, I feel as though it looks messy and odd. The watercolor didn't take well to the cotton and didn't spread throughout as I had hoped it would. I also wish that I had done different colors. Sculptural art such as this is very out of my comfort zone and I did not enjoy making this. If I were to redo this project I would've used different materials that I was a little more familiar with.
