Planets

The main focus of this project was to really make sure that all the colors had their full values and that they weren't necessarily see-through. I also wanted to make the planets look super random but still match the colors of that planet. I really wanted my lines to be really crisp and neat, and where the different colors met, I didn't want a weird line of white I wanted the two colors to come right up next to each other.

The whole painting is done with acrylic paint. Except for the sketch at the beginning which was done in pencil.  To get all the 84 colors of the project I mixed the appropriate colors and either white/black to get the different shades or tints.

I thought about this project pretty briefly before I started it, I imagined the project to look completely different and my initial layout was pretty different from the one that I ended up going with in the end. I feel like the end result of this project looks a little messy and unfinished in a way. I think that some sections of the planets could have been painted more neatly or could've had more layers of paint. I know that the reason some were more see-through than others is that I got rid of the color before finishing that section. Also, I had originally thought about outlining each section with black, but I didn't know how that would look so I ended up just not doing the black and leaving it to look smoother in a way.  I think that if I were to do this project again, I would map out the colors of the planets a little bit better,  and I would make sure that every section looked like a solid color.
