Historical Inspired Ceramic Form

This project we were assigned to find a pot or cermaic form that was at least 1000 years old, and recreate it using coils. I saw this water vessel and I thought that it looked super interesting and I decided to make it. I wanted something that was simplistic with a clean surface. I didn't need this project to serve as a functional vessel but more of a decorative historical piece.

I rolled thick coils and stacked them in circles, going out and them coming back in to create the teapot like base. I them created the top, handle, and spout attatching them seperatly making sure that there were large enough holes in the top and spout. It ended up being fairly large and quite heavy which made me nervous. Also, since it was so heavy the base of the pot kept sinking in on itself, causing me to have to push it back out a few times. I wanted to experiment with the different glazes, layering them to create an intriquet lookings surface. I used the instructions in one of the books, and ended up with a bluey redish mix of galze.
