This project was one of the most complicated projects I've done. I wanted to create a cute pair of shorts. This project was full of issues and learning experiences. First, I used a video I found on Instagram to create the shorts. The video said to take a pair of shorts that fit you and fold them in half to then trace on a folded piece of fabric. I chose a cute fabric I had with little blue flowers. I decided later that I didn't like the texture, so I looked for a new fabric. I found the sheet I used for multiple other projects and decided to use that. I traced out my shorts twice and put them right side to right side together as pictured in the bottom left photo.
My next step was to begin sewing. I sewed along the inside edges of the fabrics to create the shorts. I used a dark blue thread because I thought it would go nicely. I then measured how long I wanted my shorts to be. I decided that I wanted them to be longer in the back than the front. I hemmed the bottoms based on my measurements for the length. Along with that, I hemmed the top waistband area. Once I turned them right side out and trimmed the thread, I tried them on. They were a bit too small around the waist. I think in order to fix that, I would need an elastic waistband, which I do not have.
Overall, I am not very happy with the results just because they don't fit. I do think that I will be trying that again to make a pair of shorts that actually fit because I like how they look and wish that they fit. It was a good learning expericance for my future projects and I bettered my skills with my sewing machine.
