Underglaze transfer sculpture

For this project, we had to create a structure which we could put underglaze transfers on. I wanted to make something functional and cute so I thought of a berry crate. Before we even started this project I had an entire idea mapped out. First I had to construct it out of paper. I taped it together to make sure it would work. After I found out it would I traced all of the parts onto newsprint to put my underglaze on. I wanted to add blue to my project but I also wanted to have strawberries or raspberries on it. I decided to do lemons and blueberries but figured, as I was drawing, that the lemons were too much. So I just did blueberries. I added little leaves onto the blueberries to add more color and break up the white and blue. I found out that as I was glazing, the glaze started to smudge. I continued with what I was doing and rolled out some slabs to make my project. As I started to put them together I realized that I didn't think about the corners so some sides are larger than others because I had to cut them to put them together. After it was leather hard I transfered my prints onto the slabs and glazed the inside blue. Overall I think it's really cute but I don't know what I will use it for. I want to make a whole collection of them. I wish it was a little thinner so it didn't look so bulky.Â
