This project was the first real project. We actually got to use clay and make it into a functional form. This project was about making pinch pots with lids. Everyone in the class came up with an idea of what they wanted their pots to look like. I didn't really know what I wanted to do until I started. When I was making my pot I thought it looked kinda like a bathtub so I ran with that idea. I made the actual pots first because they were going to look the same and they were needed for everything else. Then I started to make a lid for one. This part was kinda hard because it needed to fit on the top of the pot without falling off easily. On the bottom of this lid I put a thin slab that was the size of the inside of the pot. The lid still slid around when it was glazed. I then made a little rubber duck for the top and thought it would look better if I added bubbles and a faucet. For the second one I wanted to make a sailboat. Making the sailboat was easy but I thought the pot was looking to plain so I wanted to add something else. I added water dripping off the side of the tub like it was overflowing. I glazed them both the same colors so they would look like they go together. When they came out of the kiln I thought they looked okay. There are definetly some changes I would make like glazing the sides of the lid the same as the base and the bubbles white. Also I think if I made the slab for the inside thicker it would work better. Over all I think it turned out good.
