I was really excited for this project. It ended up being a lot easier than I thought it would be. I found a video on Instagram that showed a step-by-step tutorial. I chose a really nice soft fabric for this project. The first thing I had to do was take a pair of sweat pants that fit me well and trace them onto the fabric, leaving two inches on the outer part of the leg and an inch on the inside of the leg to allow for a seam.
Once I cut the pants' legs out, I had to do it again. To do that, I just flipped my pants to the other side of the fabric and repeated the same thing. Then I took both pant legs and sewed up the side until I reached the part where it dips in to finish off the legs. I then took both pieces and put them right sides together and sewed along the dip, leaving the opening at the top. That part was easy once I figured out what I was doing. I got a little confused about which way to face the pieces of fabric. Once I finished that, I hemmed the bottoms of the pants and tried them on. Unfortunatly I made the waist a little bit too big. To fix it, I just sewed it together where it needed to be fixed and sewed some buttons on to make it look more finished.
Overall, the pants turned out pretty well, other than the fact that they are too big. I wish I made the waist adjustable with elastic instead of sewing it and putting on buttons. I think I will definitely try this again at some point to try and fix my mistakes. My favorite part of the project is the fabric, so maybe I'll try to find more of it for future projects.
