This was my first project, so I wanted to start out easy. I didn't have a pattern for this; I just took the knowledge I already had about sewing and hoped for the best. The first thing I did was cut out two 27x13.5 cm identical pieces of fabric that I liked and two of the same size pieces of a sort of foam fluff type of material. I then sewed the fluff material to the fabric and folded the edges of the fabric to hide the raw edges. I then cut out two more pieces of a different fabric about 2 centimeters smaller than the first fabric and sewed the new fabric to the fluff and the other fabric to hide the fluff material. I repeated that for both sides of the bag. I then decided that on one side, I wanted to sew lines of thread across to make it a little bit more fluffy.
Once both sides were done, I sewed them together. To do that, I put them right side facing in and sewed along both of the sides and the bottom while leaving the top open. I left a little bit of space from the top when sewing the sides so I could attach the zipper. I have never sewn a zipper before, so I didn't really know what I was doing, but I took the zipper and sewed the ends to the bag with my sewing machine. Unfortunately, after I finished both ends, my needle bent and I didn't have another one, so I had to sew the rest of the zipper on by hand.
Overall, I am very happy with my final product, though there are a few flaws. One of the things I wish I could change is the end of the zipper. The way that I sewed it made it puff up a little bit, so there is a lump at the end, making it a little more difficult to zip and unzip the bag. One of my favorite parts of my project is the hand-sewn part of the zipper. It goes along the top and just looks like it fits with he vibe of the bag in my opinion. I love the way hand stitches look, and in a way, I'm glad that I had no other option.
