Silhouette

A Blurry Tail

This photo I took is the leaves of a young aloe vera plant in my living room. I placed the plant in front of the glass door to our porch and took a silhouette of it. The only things I used to take this photo were the plant itself and the natural lighting from the windows. I set the plant on the table and then crouched down until the plant became nicely backlit. I originally thought that it would make an interesting photo if I got a silhouette of the aloe vera plant up close so you could see the thorns but when I tried to take the photo close up, my camera wouldn’t focus so the photo came out blurry. When I created this photo I made it a silhouette by getting down low when taking the picture. This caused the back of the plant to be lit which is what created the silhouette. Originally, you could still see some of the detail in the plant and it wasn’t a pure silhouette. As I was editing the photo, I made the lighting darker and then put it in black and white so that there weren’t random colors that took attention away from the leaf.
