Artist statement;
For this project, we were asked to create a sculpture by putting together different parts and pieces of objects. We were asked to create an animal and originally I was going to create a dog or armordillo but as I began creating I thought that it looked more like a squirrel.
For my project, I used a toilet paper roll, some foam like packaging I found in a box, sticks, pinecones, and acorns. I started by covering the TP roll in the foam to create a base which I then added a tail onto. For the four legs I just used sticks I found out in my yard. For the head, I took a pinecone, shaved the bottom down so it would rest against the body flatley, and started to create a face. I used acorns for the two eyes and created two ears by using the foam stuff and putting painting dry glue on it.
This project was fun but I wouldn't want to do it again. I tried to glue the pieces on but most of them wouldn't stay so I ended up having to tape them on and it looks very poorly done and cheap.
