Pixelated Portrait

Artist Statement;

For this project, we started out by using oil pastels to match the colors of strips of a magazine using 1cm squares. The goal was to mix the colors together to get one solid color instead of drawing specific details.

For my project, I chose an image of myself standing by the pool. I started by gridding the image into 1cm squares. Once it was gridded, I took my piece of drawing paper and gridded that as well. I found out the borders and taped them up so that no excess pastel would get out of the lines. I started from the top left corner and originally started going from left to right but then ended up going from top to bottom as well.

I think this project worked very well until the rectangle in the bottom right square was done upside down. If I had done it right side up I think that this project would have turn out very well and I'm proud of the results.
