Artist Statement;
For this project, we started out by drawing three pure contour images of a shoe, one from the top, one from the side, and one from the front. Once all three were done, we were asked to choose one of the three angles and I chose the front view. From there, we were given small viewfinders and placed it on a section of the image and then asked to enlarge that section on a seperate piece of paper. From there, we did that again two more times using the newest zoomed image. Once the three zoomed images were drawn, I chose one which I enlarged one last time onto bristol. For my project I chose my middle one.
I thought that if I made the stripes different colors it could look interesting so I started out by painting two blue with acrylic paints. Once I had the blue, I added black to the top and white to the bottom to make an ombre. It began to look like a sky so I then added a moon and stars using black and white acrylic. Then I added clouds outlining them in white on top of the blue and in black on the negative space. From there, I used red and white acrylics to paint the bottom two rectangles in a flowerish looking texture by mixing both red and white on my brush.
When making this project, I had a lot of fun exploring with new materials such as acrylics and I had fun trying to mix the colors and messing around with textures.
