Scratchboard

6"x 10"

Artist Statement;

For this project, we were asked to pick an image or collage that we created, then copy that image onto scratchboard. This project was very difficult because instead of added shadows, you have to remove the highlights which make you think about it very differently. It's a completely different process and it took a while to get used to.

The materials needed for this project were just the scratchboard, and some sort of sharpish materials to scratch the material off with. I chose an image and put it into Acorn so that I could grid it, then use that as a reference photo. I gridded out my scratchboard with a pencil into 1 inch squares. From there, I was ready to start working on it. I went square by square from top to bottom.

I don't like that you can see the squares of where it was gridded but aside from that, I personally think this project was done fairly well and I'm kind of proud of it.
