Artist Statement;
For this project we were asked to create a poster promoting organ an tissue donation for the donate life program.
My idea was to "shine a light" so I made a heart on a cord thinking that it would look like a lightbulb. I started by sketching out a heart and adding the cord. Once that was done, I wanted to add some color/interesting detail so I took watercolor, painted rainbows on the sides, and blew the wet watercolor so it made "drips". Once it was dry, I scanned the image, put it onto my laptop, into photoscape and added the text on top.
To make this project I used a 9"x11" piece of watercolor paper, added a 1 inch border, and began to draw. For the heart and cord I used a 2b pencil and then for the color on the side I used watercolor.
Personally I think that this project turned out relatively well and I'm proud of the outcome. I'm very proud of the heart and I think that the watercolor just adds some extra detail and I really like it. The one thing I would change if I could now would probably just be the font I used for the text.
