Artist Statement;
For this image, we were told to go outside and pick out different leaves. Once I found about five leaves, we went back inside. We laid our photos out in an arrangement that we liked and glued them down. Once they were glued down the pieces of paper were pressed to flatten them out. We then took a piece of bristol and because to draw the outlines of the leaves onto the bristol.
Once the outlines were drawn, I began to paint the insides of the leaves in black. After the leaves were painted black, I began to think of a way to fill in the negative space which is the topic for this project. I couldn't really think of anything so I just took a few colored pencils and filled in different parts of the negative space.
To create this image, I used a 4h pencil to draw the leaves, then I used black acrylic paint to fill in the leaves and colored pencils to fill in the negative space. If I were to change anything about this project, I would have redone the background because it is very uneven and I don't like it.
