Words and Images

For this assignment we learned how to layer photos in photoshop. We also learned to colorize the images as well as making the texts blend in well with the portraits that we took. My personal favorite image is the one of me on an airplane with a vintage 1939 ad promoting the new age of air travel. As someone who loves airplanes I thought that ad would look good with the image of me flying as they both relate to one another in many ways.

I first started by printing out and typing some of these texts. Next I took some photos that I thought would go along well with these images at the same time. Then I layered the images on top of each other one at a time and than started by blending them together so they could look like they were one image altogether. 

A few of these images like the ad of Robert F. Kennedy and the quote of Mohandes Gandhi I was inspired off of because they were two people that I look up; who really made a positive impact in the world and not forgotten. I put my grandmother with the RFK ad because she knew the Kennedys well and met many of them in her life.

One of the things that I really struggled with when I made this assignment was incorporating the light from the darkness. I really tried making the images blend in my portraits so they could be visible and that was very tough at first. My goal for this project was to make each of my images different from one another in the fact that they werent the same. So I went with a quote, vintage ad, newspaper article and an educational note from an SAT study guide for the SAT that I will soon study for. Overall I am very satisfied with how these images turned out and I am glad I did not ask for much help on this project.
