Title: Mr. HEdwardÂ
For this project, we were tasked with continuing our idea for our sustained investigations. This project definitely relates to my second sustained investigation then the first one did as this one is still centered around the idea of how being neurodiverse affects my life. Since I have a lot stresses that I carry with with me every day I thought I would do this project on how my thoughts impact my life as they are constantly with me. The tricky part of this project was definitely molding and shaping the clay into facial features as often the clay would dry up too quick and I had to constantly repair and fill in cracks. I was initially going to have the top of the head look as if it was exploding off the top, but that was really hard for me as I had a hard time making the clay settle at the top of the wires, so I went with wire sticking out of the head with thoughts.
The materials I used were: Tin foil to make the head shape, clay for covering over the head and making the face. Needles tools for slipping and scoring. Wire and cardstock paper for attaching to the head with all the thoughts coming out.
I first started off by crumpling up a lot of tinfoil and making it into a head shape. I then rolled out some clay and attached it to the tinfoil head and eventually made the facial features which required a LOT of continuous pinching. Once that was done I then pinched and twisted wire together to put in the head. After that, I printed out some words on colorful pieces of cardstock paper that I would attach to the wires to symbolize that types of thoughts that are with me everyday and I was finished which took me a lot of time to edit and put on. This project was definitely a challenge for me and with all the issues that I had with it I am very pleased with how it is finished.
