Art History Inspired Artwork

                 8 by 12 inches.

Mixed materials, pastel paper

This Artwork was inspired by two different artists. The first one is Henri Matisse who was part of the Fauvism art movement and is known to add a lot of brightness in his art. The second one is Albert Bierstadt from the Hudson River school art movement who was known to do a lot of landscape paintings. This piece of art depicts a waterfall coming down off a mountain with trees in the background. These two art movements show a lot of scenery as well as bright colors.

The materials that I used to create this art was ruler, oil pastels and graphite pencils.

The Main idea that guided me through this art was to create a nonrealistic landscape with different colors. I first started measuring out how tall I wanted each section of my drawing to be then I started with an outline using a 2H graphite pencil. Lastly I shaded in my art using different colored oil pastels to incorporate the bright colors and I was done.
