Scratchboard

Pointed blade, fiberglass brush and ruler.

North Haven island

    8in *12in

The Idea that guided me while doing this piece was to try to create a realistic drawing of the view off the deck of our North Haven using scratchboard. I chose to do this picture of the view off the deck because I liked how small some parts of the sceneries were so it was easier to redraw them with the scratchboard.  This was definitely a challenge because I have not used scratchboard before and cause I could redo anything if I made a mistake

The materials that I used to create this art piece were 2H pencil, ruler, pointed blade and a fiberglass brush.

I first started using a 2H pencil for the whole outline for each section of the piece. Next once I was done with I worked my way through each box of the picture using the image to guide me.  I had a hard time with this at first as I had to redo it a few times on separate pieces of scratchboard paper until I got each section the way I wanted it to be. I started with each section and the section I started with was the sky. Next, I worked my way down and did the water using light strokes and lighter with the trees.
