Duck Stamp
A Gadwall and its habitat
9 * 12
Colored pencils, ruler and paint
The main idea that guided me to create this piece of artwork was having to figure out how to make a very accurate duck as if it was in real life. Ms. Medsker shared with us a document where we had to choose whatever duck we wanted to try to recreate. We were given about three weeks to complete this because it would be entered in a competition. I chose to do a Gadwall duck because I found those ducks to be really cool and seemed fun to draw.
The materials that I used were a ruler, graphite pencils, colored pencils, and paint on watercolor paper.
The process was simple, I started with an outline of my whole drawing using a 2H graphite pencil. Next, I used a ruler to measure how big my landscape/background should be. Then I colored in the background and sky using paint and colored pencils. Lastly, I drew the duck using colored pencils and I was all done. I wasn't so happy with the way the duck turned out and I wish I had given myself more time to do this project.
