Title: The strawberry pinch pot.
For this assignment, we were tasked with creating two pinch pots with two lids. I was out for a number of days at the beginning of the school year because I had a really bad cold, but otherwise, if I did not have a really bad cold I would have made two.
I first started by brainstorming a bunch of ideas of what to create my pinch pot from. Next, I rolled out a bunch of clay and made it into a ball, then I used a coil to cut the ball into two halves to make it look like a lidded pinch pot. Finally, I added unique designs to make my pinch pot look exactly what I wanted it to look like. I made the handle look like a stem and the leaves look like the bottom for my pinch pot to sit on. My original idea was to make an apple pinch pot which I thought it would look like, but instead, it looked more like a strawberry, so I went with a strawberry design. Overall I am pretty satisfied with how my pinch pot turned out and the way that it looked, but there are some technical details to it that I would like to have done differently.
If I could do this project again, I would start out by putting more of a sketch together first - instead of looking at the pinch pot at the end to see what else I would need to add to it, to make it look more diverse. I would also work on being a little more careful with how I add the glaze so that I would not end up adding any spots that I didn't want glaze on. Another thing I would do differently would be not to ask my teacher to inspect it every time I added something new to my project, and instead have more confidence that what I made is good in its own way.
