Dear Parents,
I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable Thanksgiving break. What an enjoyable Thanksgiving break it was for Horsemen athletics! Our football team won their third state championship in a row with another thrilling win over Dexter this past weekend, securing another undefeated season. A huge congratulations to these student athletes and all their coaches. I would also like to recognize and thank all our parents, alumni, and St. Michael’s faithful who continuously help and support our athletic teams, extracurricular activities, and our school as a whole. The support you provide is greatly appreciated. Whether it is an athletic event, a music performance, community service project, staff appreciation, or to support members of our community in need, you are there. Thank you!
With two weeks left in the first semester, I would again like to point out that we still have several students with missing assignments. Please work with your child to ensure that any missing assignments are completed and turned in by the end of next week so they are all caught up going into finals. I also encourage students to begin preparing for final exams now. Final exams count for twenty percent of the semester grade in each class. Students with a GPA below 2.0 at semester and/or have at least one F at semester will become ineligible and may find themselves on academic probation with the school. Let’s be proactive and prevent this from happening by having our students finish strong. Please check OnBoard and contact your child’s individual teachers with any questions you may have regarding current grades and any missing work.
I encourage families to ensure that they are not delinquent in tuition payments. Per the enrollment contract, any family account that is in delinquent status may not be allowed to register current and/or new students for subsequent years until the delinquency has been resolved and /or until an alternate payment plan has been requested and approved. Delinquency in payment may also result in semester grades not being released or accessible, the inability to take final exams, inability to participate in athletics and/or activities, and official/unofficial transcripts or other school records not being released as long as there is an outstanding balance. This especially affects current seniors. Not being able to take their final exams would negatively impact their graduation status and it could negatively impact the college application process with incomplete transcripts or the transcripts being unable to be released. If you are unsure of your tuition balance or have any questions about your tuition payment status, please contact Danna West in our business office at dwest@smhs.me.
Winter sports and activities have begun and are already off to a great start. Our choir and orchestra programs have a beautiful Christmas concert at the Cathedral planned for Wednesday evening, December 10th at 6:30. The boys and girls basketball seasons have begun with our girls playing at the Dexter Tournament this weekend and our boys competing in the Capital City Tournament.
As always, thank you for all your support of this great school.
Go Horsemen!
Yours in Christ,
Martin C. Sandoval, Principal

Final Exams December 15-18
Final exams count for twenty percent of the semester grade in each class. Students with a GPA below 2.0 at semester and/or have at least one F at semester will become ineligible and may find themselves on academic probation with the school. Please check OnBoard and contact your child’s individual teachers with any questions you may have regarding current grades and any missing work.
Thank you St. Michael's Community
As we move closer to Christmas, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude for the incredible spirit, generosity, and unity that make our community so special.
First, we want to recognize Mr. DeVargas and Mr. Tafoya for all of their hard work preparing for Wednesday night’s Christmas concert. Although weather forced us to postpone the performance, they continue to share the holiday spirit today at the DeVargas Mall, proudly representing St. Michael’s. If you are able, please feel free to stop by and support them.
Movie Night last evening was also a tremendous success. Thank you to Ms. Elise Lopez for organizing such a joyful event, and to Ms. Garcia and Mrs. Temple for their support working the event. Our students enjoyed a cozy evening in pajamas with blankets and pillows, and most importantly, the event supported a wonderful cause—providing books and stuffed animals to children in need.
We also extend our gratitude to Ms. Elise Lopez for leading our Advent Prayer each morning. It has been a peaceful and much-needed way to center our hearts during this busy season. If you haven’t been able to join us at 8:00 a.m., we encourage you to stop by. It is a beautiful way to begin the day.
Please keep our coaches and student-athletes in prayer as they travel and compete. We pray for their safety, protection, and of course, a win.
Thank you all for everything you do for our school and for one another. Merry Christmas, St. Michael’s. May this season bring you peace, joy, and blessings.

Let us remember . . .
This Sunday, we light the second candle on the Advent wreath. The second candle, often called the “Bethlehem Candle” or the “Candle of Peace,” symbolizes the peace emanating from the humble town of Bethlehem, where the Prince of Peace was born.
As the light flickers, we are invited into the tranquil scene of a stable, where the Savior entered the world amidst the hushed whispers of angels and the lowing of cattle. Our world is filled with noise, chaos, and uncertainty, and the narrative of Bethlehem beckons us to find peace not in the absence of turmoil but in the presence of the One who calms the storm. As we navigate the challenges of our daily lives, the peace that surpasses understanding becomes our guiding light. We remember this light in the flicker of this Sunday’s candle.
Heavenly Father, on this Second Sunday of Advent, we come before you with hearts open to the peace that surpasses understanding. In a tumultuous and noisy world, we seek the quiet refuge of your presence. As we light the Bethlehem Candle, may its flame kindle within us a deep and abiding peace that emanates from the manger in Bethlehem.
Live Jesus in our hearts . . .
