Dear Parents,
As our students settle into the spring semester, it is important that they start off this semester on the right foot. Overall, first semester grades were pretty good, but we still had too many students with missing assignments which had a detrimental impact on their final semester grade. Semester grades are what appear on the final transcripts and are also what are used to determine eligibility for athletics and extracurricular activities.
Already this semester we are seeing several students getting sick and coming to school sick. We ask that if your child has a fever along with flu and/or Covid like symptoms, to please keep them home. Any work missed may be made up and assignments should be accessible in Google Classroom.
We again are experiencing several students arriving late to first period, especially seniors and athletes. Please reiterate the importance of students arriving at school and to each class on time.
A special congratulations to our boys' varsity basketball team for their huge win over Rio Rancho on Tuesday night. Let’s come out and support all our winter athletes as they begin district competition.
Thank you for your support of our students in all that they do. Go Horsemen!
Yours in Christ,
Martin C. Sandoval, Principal

Capital Improvement
Recent school updates are almost complete with the replacement of the 50-year old gates with modern metal doors. The new doors provides additional security throughout the school day. The project was completed using a small grant provided by the Catholic Foundation and current capital improvement funds.
Campus Ministry has been collecting donations for relief efforts of the fires in LA especially those affected at our fellow Lasallian schools La Salle and Cathedral High School. Monday will be the last day of collecting donations for this relief fund.
The Sports Medicine Club has been working with Athletic Trainer, Valerie Mishos, on emergency care skills with similuated patients.
The Sports Medicine Club is an extracurricular activity that allows students who are interested in pursuing a career in Healthcare to learn basic level skills and hands-on experience that can translate into any career in or everyday life. Students learn skills such as First Aid, CPR, Emergency Care, Taping and more.

The SMHS swim team finished second in the small school division at the Academy Invite meet.
Our awesome girl divers placed first (Lauren) and third (Aubrey)!
Our girls 200 Medley relay placed 8th out of 39 teams and qualified for State!

Let us remember . . .
As we begin 2025 - the year of Lasallian spirituality - it’s worth stopping for a moment to ask, “what even is Lasallian spirituality?”
Spirituality is a worldview that guides our search for purpose and truth. Christian spirituality sees the sacredness of all around us as given to us by God, “in whom we live and breathe and have our being.” Catholic Christian spirituality further draws on the historical traditions of the Church, the people of God, the body of Christ.
Lasallian Catholic Christian spirituality sees our work as our mission, not just our job. We strive to live the Gospel values of compassion, justice, and faith. We try never to forget that we are in God’s presence, and we stop often to recall that relationship with God. We meet God in prayer and see Him in the face of each student that we teach. Our mission calls us to include and serve all students.
We draw on the individual talents of our students and make them conscious of their interrelation with each other and with God. Lasallians work in community, much like a family, strengthened by solidarity with one another. A person’s alone time with God is essential. But to be Lasallian, it must overflow into actual service to others. Lasallian spirituality thus challenges us to become whole, complete persons with the spiritual, social, and practical skills for life lived with purpose in service to God and to each other.
Live Jesus in our hearts . . .
