September 20th
Dear Parents,
It was such a joy to celebrate our seniors with our ring mass and ceremony on Thursday as they begin their journey through their last year of high school. They are the student leaders of our school, our five Lasallian Core Principles are evident in their actions, and they set a good example for our underclassmen of what it means to be a St. Michael’s student. They are a truly wonderful senior class.
We are at the midway point of the first nine week period. Teachers are beginning to call and email parents of students with either a D or F. Many of these low grades are a result of absences and missing assignments. It is imperative that all missing assignments are completed and that students do not fall behind. If a student is struggling with the content, teachers are available for additional help. Academic support plans may also be developed by the teachers and our academic counselor to help students get back on track.
Students that are continuing to come late to school are now receiving detentions for 4 or more tardies in a class. It is important for students to come to school and get to each class on time. Students are also beginning to receive detentions for dress code violations for not being in appropriate standard dress. As the weather gets cooler students are reminded that they must also wear St. Michael’s outerwear. Students must also dress in accordance with the dress code for mass. The entire dress code policy may be found on pages 37-39 in our Student-Parent Handbook.
Many students are dummy locking their lockers, which means that their locks on their lockers are locked in such a way that does not secure the locker from being able to be opened allowing the locker to be accessed by anyone. This is happening both with the hallway lockers as well as the locker room lockers. Students are also placing their belongings in empty lockers that are not assigned to them and are also leaving items on the floor or on benches in the locker rooms. Please encourage your students to secure all their items in their lockers and lock their lockers correctly.
We have been experiencing some student driving concerns in our parking lots. There have been some minor accidents of cars hitting other cars as well as incidents of students driving too fast in the parking lots almost hitting people walking. The speed limit in the parking lots is 5 mph. Driving violations may result in students losing their ability to park on campus for a period of time. Please encourage your students who drive to slow down and drive cautiously through the parking lots on campus. Students parking in school parking lots must also have a valid SMHS student parking permit displayed on their rear view mirrors.
We appreciate your faith in us to educate your children and thank you for all the support you provide to this great school. Go Horsemen!
Yours in Christ,
Martin C. Sandoval, Principal

Being “Lasallian without limits” is: To shine light for those in darkness. To build sustainable communities wherever we find ourselves. To embody the hope for those without. To stand in solidarity with those on the margins. To recognize the inherent human dignity of each person, no matter the circumstance. To discern how to be our best selves in the midst of a chaotic world. To embrace our identity as Lasallians without limits.
Live Jesus in our hearts…
