December 6
Dear Parents,
I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable Thanksgiving break. What an enjoyable Thanksgiving break it was for Horsemen athletics! Our volleyball team had already won their third state championship in a row and our football team won their second state championship in a row with a thrilling win over Dexter this past weekend, securing an undefeated season. A huge congratulations to these student athletes and all their coaches. I would also like to recognize and thank all our parents, alumni, and St. Michael’s faithful who helped the state championship game run so smoothly at Ivan Head Stadium. The support you provide is greatly appreciated. Whether it is an athletic event, a music performance, community service project, staff appreciation, or to support members of our community in need, you are there. Thank you!
With two weeks left in the first semester, I would again like to point out that we still have several students with missing assignments. Please work with your child to ensure that any missing assignments are completed and turned in by the end of next week so they are all caught up going into finals. I also encourage students to begin preparing for final exams now. Final exams count for twenty percent of the semester grade in each class. Students with a GPA below 2.0 at semester and/or have at least one F at semester will become ineligible and may find themselves on academic probation with the school. Let’s be proactive and prevent this from happening by having our students finish strong. Please check OnBoard and contact your child’s individual teachers with any questions you may have regarding current grades and any missing work.
I encourage families to ensure that they are not delinquent in tuition payments. Per the enrollment contract, any family account that is in delinquent status may not be allowed to register current and/or new students for subsequent years until the delinquency has been resolved and /or until an alternate payment plan has been requested and approved. Delinquency in payment may also result in semester grades not being released or accessible, the inability to take final exams, inability to participate in athletics and/or activities, and official/unofficial transcripts or other school records not being released as long as there is an outstanding balance. This especially affects current seniors. Not being able to take their final exams would negatively impact their graduation status and it could negatively impact the college application process with incomplete transcripts or the transcripts being unable to be released. If you are unsure of your tuition balance or have any questions about your tuition payment status, please contact Shane Pulsifer in our business office at spulsifer@smhs.me.
Winter sports and activities have begun and are already off to a great start. Our choir and orchestra programs had a beautiful Christmas concert at the Cathedral on Thursday. Drumline and guitar will be having their holiday performances next week. The boys and girls basketball seasons have begun with our girls playing at the Lasallian Classic Tournament in Denver this weekend and our boys competing in the Capital City Tournament.
As always, thank you for all your support.
Go Horsemen!
Yours in Christ,
Martin C. Sandoval, Principal

Block M Criteria: the following document outlines our Block M award, and the criteria needed to apply.
As we approach Finals Week (December 16th - December 20th), please continue to monitor your student grades on OnBoard.
We understand that this can be a stressful time for you as parents as you help prepare your student(s) mentally and emotionally before finals, because it is an extremely stressful and overwhelming time for the students.
As a faculty and staff, we are working hard at trying to ease the stress for our students through guidance and advice on preparing and studying for each final.
Through this effort, we humbly ask that you continue to provide our teachers with grace and patience, as they are creating final exams for several different classes and executing their due diligence in helping each and every student prepare for finals.
Seniors! The FAFSA (Federal Student Aid through the U.S. Department of Education) application is open!

This week, we began the season of Advent. It is a time of anticipation and preparation as we await the arrival of the incarnate Christ -- the arrival of love incarnate. We marked the beginning of Advent with a school-wide prayer and candle lighting service. We also are holding a short prayer service every morning throughout the season.
And so, let us remember,
Precious Lord, as I embrace this Advent Season, please open my eyes to see the great value and blessing of Your Incarnation. Help me to discover Your hidden presence in this world and within my own soul. I desire to see, understand and experience the profound effects that Your Incarnation has on my life and I desire to receive those effects more fully this Advent. May I become a sanctuary in which You dwell so that I, like Your dear Mother, may bring Your presence into the world.
Live Jesus in our hearts. . . .
