SMHS Weekly Newsletter
October 11th
October 11th
This week we came together to honor and support cancer survivors. It was wonderful to see our students actively participating in “Pink Week.” I would like to thank Ms. Deborah Garcia for organizing the week, and Ms. Elise Lopez and Ms. Margie Baca for the support they provided in making this a fun week for everyone.
This week, we also conducted our Annual Blood Drive on campus. It was quite the success. Thank you to Ms. Aida Martinez-Suarez and our National Honor Society students for making this happen.
Progress reports went live for parents and students to view on OnBoard on Wednesday, October 9th. Let’s continue to work together to encourage our students to stay committed to working hard and turning in assignments on time through the rest of this First Semester. The First Semester officially ends on December 20, 2024.
As we celebrate homecoming next week, it is a great opportunity to reflect on the tremendous history, traditions, and accomplishments of this great school over the past 165 years. The positive impact this school has had on generations of alumni and on our community as a whole is immeasurable. Our five Lasallian Core Principles are at the heart of what our school has always been and will continue to be about. It will be wonderful to see our alumni come together at our football game on October 19th and be able to welcome them home.
As always, thank you for all your support of our great school. Go Horsemen!
Yours in Christ,
Martin C. Sandoval, Principal

It was two days full of compassion and service for others!

What a week!
This week, the sophomore class had their retreat, focusing on a day of volunteer work at Reunity Farms. Reunity Farms produces fresh food for the food-insecure in Santa Fe while promoting climate change resilience, environmental education, and community. It dovetailed well with the Christian Brothers' worldwide promotion of "integral ecology," which recognizes the interconnectedness of our human spirituality, the natural world, and society's economic, social and political systems.
We also celebrated "Pink Week." Each day of the week, students and staff engaged in different activities meant to raise money for, and awareness of, breast cancer and all forms of cancer. The Pink Week activities were spearheaded by Deb Garcia. Thanks Ms. G!
The week is ending with a blood drive on campus and a day of faculty formation. It's been a week in which our Lasallian values have been on full display to say the least!
Live Jesus in our hearts!
