Dear Parents,
We are at the midway point of the first nine week period. Teachers are beginning to call and email parents of students with either a D or F. Many of these low grades are a result of absences and missing assignments. It is imperative that all missing assignments are completed and that students do not fall behind. If a student is struggling with the content, teachers are available for additional help. Academic support plans may also be developed by the teachers and our academic counselor to help students get back on track.
Students are continuing to do a nice job coming to school on time, but we still have a small handful coming in late and are now having to attend Saturday school as a result. It is important for all students to come to school and get to each class on time.
Students are also beginning to receive detentions for dress code violations for not being in appropriate standard dress. As the weather gets cooler students are reminded that they must also wear St. Michael’s outerwear. Students must also dress in accordance with the dress code for mass. The entire dress code policy may be found on pages 38-39 in our Student-Parent Handbook.
Many students are dummy locking their lockers, which means that their locks on their lockers are locked in such a way that does not secure the locker from being able to be opened allowing the locker to be accessed by anyone. This is happening both with the hallway lockers as well as the locker room lockers. Students are also placing their belongings in empty lockers that are not assigned to them and are also leaving items on the floor or on benches in the locker rooms. Please encourage your students to secure all their items in their lockers and lock their lockers correctly.
We have been experiencing some student and parent driving concerns in our parking lots. There have been some minor accidents of cars hitting other cars as well as incidents of students and parents driving too fast in the parking lots almost hitting people walking. The speed limit in the parking lots is 5 mph. Student driving violations may result in students losing their ability to park on campus for a period of time. Please encourage your students who drive to slow down and drive cautiously through the parking lots on campus. We ask the same of the parents. We will also be having SFPD begin patrols to curb speeding along Siringo Road. Students parking in school parking lots must also have a valid SMHS student parking permit displayed on their rear view mirrors. They have had plenty of time to get them. Not having a permit on their cars moving forward will result in detentions.
We appreciate your faith in us to educate your children and thank you for all the support you provide to this great school. Go Horsemen!
Yours in Christ,
Martin C. Sandoval, Principal

Let us remember...
“In the beginning….” These familiar words ground us in the Genesis narrative of creation. Through the centuries, we harken back to these narratives as a reminder of that perfect union between creation and Creator. We are being asked today to urgently embrace that, from the beginning, all is connected. That each of us has a responsibility for rebuilding and fostering the community of creation. Amid environmental and societal crises, we are called to rediscover the deep significance that, from the beginning, all is connected.
This is the foundational lens through which we must view our world, our relationships, and our shared future. The Church’s recent call through the encyclicals Laudato si’ and Fratelli Tutti urge a response from the Catholic faithful to their messages of integral care for our common home, and the challenge of universal fraternity. To reframe how we see ourselves — not as masters of creation, but as part of a living community of creation. No one can excuse themselves from the cry of the poor which cannot be separated from the cry of the earth. All is connected.
