Dear Parents,
On Tuesday we will be celebrating our seniors with a beautiful senior mass. Our seniors will be honored on Wednesday night with the senior awards ceremony followed by graduation at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi on Friday morning. It is hard to believe that our seniors are done with their senior finals and that their high school years are coming to an end. It has been a joy to get to know these amazing seniors this year and I know that they will all be successful in their next phases of life.
The Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremony will be held on Thursday evening in the Tipton Center. At this ceremony we will be recognizing our eighth graders and celebrating their successful transition to high school.
With less than two weeks to go in the semester for underclassmen, it is vital that students maintain their focus on good attendance and the completion of all their coursework successfully. Students should start preparing early for their end of year final exams and ensuring that all credits to be earned are secured. Final exams begin May 19th.
It is imperative that families make sure that they are not delinquent in tuition payments. Per the enrollment contract, delinquency in payment will prevent the impacted students from taking final exams, classes for the semester will show as incomplete on the transcript, and official/unofficial transcripts or other school records will not be released as long as there is an outstanding balance. Also, returning students will not be allowed to participate in any summer athletic or extracurricular activities at/with the school unless they are fully registered and have cleared all outstanding balances.
As the 2024-2025 academic school year comes to a close, it is time to say goodbye to our outstanding senior class and welcome the incoming class of 2031. We are very proud of our soon to be graduates and all their accomplishments. We believe that these students will all be productive citizens and are leaving us well prepared for college and beyond.
National Teacher Appreciation Week comes to an end today. We have been celebrating our teachers all week reminding them how important they are to our students and to our community. A special thank you to our amazing Parent Association for all the treats and gifts for our teachers throughout the week. We appreciate our teachers, not just this week, but every day. The positive difference they make in the lives of our students is immeasurable. We can’t thank our teachers enough for all that they do!
Our drumline, orchestra, and choir programs had a wonderful performance at school on Wednesday. It was great to see all their hard work culminate with this beautiful end of the year concert.
Thank you all for your support throughout the year. Our students and our school would not be able to realize our level of success if it weren’t for you. Go Horsemen!
Yours in Christ,
Martin C. Sandoval, Principal

Attendance Matters - Did you know that attendance is one of the most reliable indicators of a student's academic success?
As we approach the end of the school year, we are seeing an increase in tardies and absences. While it may be tempting to ease up in these final weeks, consistent attendance is still critical. Research continues to support the powerful link between attendance and achievement:
Chronic absenteeism (missing 10% or more of school days) is associated with lower GPAs, reduced test performance, and lower graduation rates.
Stronger social-emotional skills – Builds confidence, relationships, and a sense of belonging.
Greater college and career readiness – Develops discipline, time management, and reliability.
Students who attend regularly retain more content, are more likely to complete assignments on time, and feel more confident in their learning.
In-person attendance increases access to teacher feedback, class discussions, and hands-on learning, which are key components of academic growth.
Even just two to three absences per month can result in missed foundational concepts, gaps in understanding, and increased academic stress.
Please continue to encourage your students to be on time and present.
AP Testing: May 7–May 23
Advanced Placement exams begin this week and continue through May 23. Please review the following reminders to help your student perform their best:
Review your student’s AP testing schedule.
Have your student speak with their teachers about any conflicts with testing.
The night before each exam, students should get a full night of sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time and prepared.
Thank you for supporting your student’s success during this important testing window.
Parent Survey Launching This Week
We will be sending out a school-wide parent survey as part of our accreditation and school improvement efforts. Your feedback is vital. It helps us evaluate our progress, identify opportunities for growth, and ensure that St. Michael’s continues to serve all students and families with excellence. Please look for the survey in your email this week. Your voice matters, and we appreciate your time and insight.

WELCOMING POPE LEO XIV!
The election of Pope Leo XIV marks a new chapter for the Church. We are enthusiastic for and attentive to the ways in which he will continue the work of the Church, particularly in the areas of education and care for the poor. Our Holy Father reminded us yesterday that “we want to be a synodal church, walking and always seeking peace, charity, closeness, especially to those who are suffering.” In the spirit of faith and zeal, we pray for Pope Leo as he begins his new ministry of service to all the people of God.
