SMHS Weekly Newsletter

Dear Parents,
As we celebrate National Catholic Schools Week next week, we reflect on our identity as a Lasallian Catholic School and the five Lasallian Core Principles that serve as the foundation of who we are. These core principles unite us as a community and strengthen our faith in the presence of God. For 165 years we have provided a quality education, supported those in need and have been respectful and inclusive of all persons in belief and in practice.
Next week teachers and our academic counselor will begin reaching out to parents of students who currently have a grade of D or F at this point in the semester. Missed assignments are the main cause for those with low grades. It is imperative that students complete all their assignments even if they are absent. Students must meet deadlines and plan ahead if they have athletics or other activities. Students should be referring to their teachers’ Google Classrooms to find out what they missed. Please refer to OnBoard to check your child’s attendance and current grades. Also, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teachers if you have any questions or concerns about their grades.
With returning student registration slated to begin in February, I encourage families to make sure that they are not delinquent in tuition payments. Per the enrollment contract, any family account that is in delinquent status may not be allowed to register current and/or new students for subsequent years until the delinquency has been resolved and /or until an alternate payment plan has been requested and approved. Delinquency in payment may also result in semester grades not being released or accessible, the inability to take final exams, and official/unofficial transcripts or other school records not being released as long as there is an outstanding balance. This really impacts current seniors. Not being able to take their final exams would impact their graduation status and it could impact the college application process with incomplete transcripts or the transcripts being unable to be released. If you are unsure of your tuition balance or have any questions about your tuition payment status, please contact Shane Pulsifer at spulsifer@smhs.me.
As always, thank you for your continuous support of St. Michael’s High School in all that we do. Go Horsemen!
Yours in Christ,
Martin C. Sandoval, Principal

Let us remember . . .
Remembering that we are in the Holy Presence of God, we pray to be light to those in darkness, to build sustainable communities wherever we find ourselves, to be hope for those without, to stand in solidarity with those on the margins, to recognize the inherent human dignity of each person no matter the circumstances, to discern how to be our best selves in the midst of a chaotic world, is to embrace our identity as Lasallians without Limits.
Live Jesus in our hearts . . .

Capital Improvement
Recent school updates are almost complete with the replacement of the 50-year old gates with modern metal doors. The new doors provides additional security throughout the school day. The project was completed using a small grant provided by the Catholic Foundation and current capital improvement funds.
