Last month you may have received a letter from our registrar, Mr. Armijo, indicating your student needs one or more vaccinations. If this has not been addressed, then you will be receiving a second letter indicating that you must take care of these vaccinations with your provider within 14 days of that communication and provide updated documentation to Mr. Armijo. According to state guidelines, students whose vaccinations are not current may be disenrolled. Any parent/guardian requesting an exemption from any/all vaccinations must officially request that exemption from the New Mexico Department of Health. Once approved, the official, notarized certificate of exemption must be on file with the school.
As part of our preparation for our Accreditation, we have scheduled two late start/delay days this semester for our teachers to work together and complete some necessary work as part of this process. The first late start/delay day will be November 5th and the second late start/delay day will be November 19th. Please see below for more information.
This weekend is daylight saving. As the days grow shorter and the weather becomes colder, we have a greater concern about students not involved in after school activities remaining on campus well after the school day. There is no supervision in the school lobby after 4:30 p.m. We ask that students who do not have after school activities be picked up as soon after school as possible, and for sure by 4:30 p.m. We appreciate your cooperation.
In addition, we have concerns with students who are left at the school after athletic events. To ensure student safety and maintain the security of the premises, please be aware that gates and buildings will be closed within thirty minutes after the conclusion of the final game of the day. Please ensure that students are picked up within that half hour.
On Tuesday we continued practicing our safety protocols with a lockdown drill ensuring that lockdown protocols were being followed. We will have more of these safety drills throughout the year and some may be unannounced. Even though they are drills, we always ask that all our students take the drills seriously and act as if they are real occurrences. It is important that our students practice what to do in the event of real situations to ensure student safety.
Thank you for the continuous support of our school, our students, and the entire St. Michael’s community. Go Horsemen!
Yours in Christ,
Martin C. Sandoval, Principal

A Message from the Orchestra Program
"Our small orchestra program of 13 students had 8 students audition for our regional honor orchestra and all 8 were accepted! Danielle Corleto made 4th chair first violin, Asante Cole made principal bass, Mataya Sand made 2nd chair viola, Felix Montoya made 2nd chair cello, John McCabe made 8th chair cello, Ethan Rehrer made 6th chair violin 1, Alejandro Silva Carrasco made 8th chair violin 2, and Val Aboytes made 12th chair violin 2.
Please congratulate these students on a job well done! We are a small program, but more than half of our program will be represented at this regional event in some pretty high rankings as well."

Let us remember . . .
Tomorrow, Saturday November 1, the Church celebrates the Feast of All Saints - a holy day of obligation. Technically, every soul in heaven is a saint. That includes those formally recognized through the process of canonization, as well as those that we know, in our hearts, have been rewarded in God’s eternal presence.
Of course, as Catholics, we do not worship saints. Rather, we ask for their prayers and their intercessions. Just as we can ask others here on earth to help us and pray for us, we can ask the same of those in heaven. In other words, our union with the brethren who sleep in the presence of Christ is in no way interrupted, but on the contrary, according to the constant faith of the Church, this union is reinforced by a spiritual exchange.
Catechism of the Catholic Church, Para. 955.
It is one of the most beautiful and comforting concepts in Catholic spirituality and mysticism: that we remain just as interconnected with the communion of saints, and they with us, as we are with each other while we sojourn together here on earth. Tomorrow, take a moment to ponder what that continuing union means to you. It’s one of the things we focus on and celebrate on All Saints’ Day.
Live Jesus in our hearts . . .
