Dear Parents,
This week marks the last full week of classes for seniors. Today the seniors participated in their senior retreat in preparation for all senior activities culminating with graduation. Final exams begin on Monday. It is important for all seniors to take their final exams seriously and do their absolute best. Final exams may be the difference between passing and failing a class or determining an increase or decline in final grades. We also ask that seniors make good choices and refrain from any inappropriate behaviors that may jeopardize their participation in commencement such as senior pranks. School rules and policies apply through graduation. Our seniors have done great all year and I have no doubt that they will finish strong.
A special congratulations to our three senior Super Scholars, Marina Vaughan, Elsie Odai, and Alex Inman who were honored Thursday evening for their incredible academic accomplishments and contributions to our school and our community. Congratulations to our 109 Block M recipients who will be honored this Sunday. These students have demonstrated high academic achievement, involvement in extracurricular activities, and service to the community.
We have been having pinning ceremonies for our seniors in which they pin a pennant on a big map of the United States indicating where they will be attending college in the fall. It is wonderful to see all the great schools our soon to be graduates will be attending and the bright futures they have ahead of them. Our seniors have also earned so many recognitions and awards that we will be celebrating over the next two weeks. This is a great senior class and we are looking forward to honoring them now in May.
Spring sports are preparing for district and state competition. Let’s go out and support our track, baseball, softball, golf, and tennis teams. Go Horsemen!
Yours in Christ,
Martin C. Sandoval, Principal

Testing Season is Here — You've Got This, Horsemen!
As we enter the final stretch of the school year, we know that finals and AP exams can feel overwhelming — but you are not alone. Your teachers, counselors, and the entire St. Michael’s community are cheering you on. This season is not just about tests; it’s about growth, resilience, and showing all you’ve learned.
Here are some strategies to help you feel prepared and confident as you approach your exams:
Smart Study Strategies
Start early and spread it out. Avoid cramming by reviewing a little each day. It strengthens memory and reduces anxiety.
Use active recall. Instead of rereading, quiz yourself or have someone ask you questions.
Teach someone else. Explaining concepts aloud helps solidify your understanding.
Use past exams and practice questions. Get familiar with the format and types of questions you'll see.
Mind-Body Connection
Get good sleep. Aim for 7–9 hours, especially the night before an exam. Your brain needs rest to perform well.
Eat well. Fuel your body with healthy meals and stay hydrated.
Take breaks. Short breaks during study sessions help your brain reset and absorb more information.
Stay Calm, Stay Focused
Breathe- Take deep breaths before and during your test to calm your nervous system.
Arrive prepared. Bring all materials needed (pens/sharpened pencils, calculators, etc.) and give yourself time to settle in.
Use your time wisely. Read instructions carefully, pace yourself, and review your answers if time allows.
We believe in you! Give it your best, take care of yourself, and know that every step forward is a win.
Good luck, Horsemen — you’ve already made us proud. We’re with you every step of the way!

St. Michael's High School offers the best and most affordable summer camps for kids entering grades K - 8.
Our goal at Camp Horsemen is for every camper to try something different, develop a new skill, increase their confidence, make a new friend, and most importantly have a lot of fun! All of our camps are led by individuals who have years of experience and expertise in their fields. Additionally, St. Michael's students, athletes, and artists are involved with all of our camps, an aspect that only we can offer and a dynamic that camp attendees truly enjoy.
And so, Let us remember . . .
This week, on April 30th, the worldwide Lasallian community marked what would be the 374th birthday of our Founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle. He was born in 1651, the oldest of eleven children born to Louis de La Salle and Nicolle Moet de Brouillet. It was a wealthy and powerful family in which it was assumed that John Baptist would, like his father, pursue a career in law. At the young age of ten, however, John Baptist decided to officially aspire to the priesthood. Twenty-two years later, he would renounce his family's tremendous wealth, resign his position of influence in the Church hierarchy, and dedicate the rest of his life to the education of poor and working-class children.
We all can honor our Founder's birth by recommitting ourselves to heeding his warning that,
"Children are led more readily to do what they see done around them than to carry out what they hear told to them, particularly when the words they hear are not in harmony with the actions they see." From Meditiation 202.3
