September 13th
Dear Parents,
Senior activities began this week with the Fall Senior Retreat on Wednesday. Our seniors were engaged in team building, problem solving, and reflection activities to help set the tone for a positive, enjoyable, and successful senior year. We will be celebrating our seniors again on Thursday with the traditional Senior Ring Mass Ceremony. We have an amazing senior class and look forward to all they will accomplish this year and beyond.
As students are getting settled into their classes, homework, classwork and test grades are beginning to indicate your child’s academic performance in each class. Teachers are beginning to reach out to parents of students who currently have a grade of D or F. Missed assignments are the main cause for those with low grades. It is imperative that students complete all their assignments even if they are absent. Students must meet deadlines and plan ahead if they have athletics or other activities. Students should be referring to their teachers’ Google Classrooms to find out what they missed. Please refer to OnBoard to check your child’s attendance and current grades. Also, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teachers if you have any questions or concerns about their grades. Students are doing much better getting to school on time. Thank you for your support with this.
I would like to reiterate that we do not allow food delivery services such as GrubHub and DoorDash on our campus at any time for safety reasons. We cannot have random strangers walking or driving through our campus trying to deliver food and trying to interact with our students. We will turn them away on sight. Also for safety reasons, anything needing to be dropped off for students from parents must be brought into the main office even during lunch. Thank you for your support and understanding.
This year we will continue to use the computer use integrity tool Go Guardian. This program blocks any questionable content from being accessed online from student Chromebooks. This tool also helps teachers monitor what students have on screen during class time; for example, teachers can message students if they are on a gaming site instead of the article a teacher may be discussing. This helps ensure students are engaged in the classroom instruction and not using their Chromebooks for unintended purposes. The ability for these Chromebooks to be monitored by teachers is only available between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm during school days.
As always we appreciate your continuous support of St. Michael’s High School. Go Horsemen!
Yours in Christ,
Martin C. Sandoval, Principal

We are excited to share; the Annual Raffle is back! The fundraising efforts of the Annual Raffle aid us in providing the tools, accessibility, and environment your student needs to learn and grow at SMHS. We need your support to help make the Annual Raffle a success.
Each SMHS family is required to sell a minimum of 8 raffle tickets at $30 each, for a total of $240 as outlined in the Enrollment Contract on the Summary of Tuition, Fees, and Discounts page.
Any unsold raffle tickets will be charged to family Tuition Management Accounts in January 2025. Example: If only 1 raffle ticket is sold the amount ($210) of the 7 unsold raffle tickets will be applied to the family TM account and payment will be due in full on the selected payment plan date of January 2025.
To receive credit for any tickets sold the full name and grade of your student must be mentioned in the Additional Information text box by the purchaser at the time of checkout.
The Annual Raffle ticket sales will begin on Saturday, September 7, 2024, and end on October 19,, 2024 after halftime of our Homecoming Football Game.
The Annual Raffle drawing will take place on October 19, 2024, during the 3rd quarter of the Homecoming Football Game. The winners will be announced over the PA system and immediately emailed. Winners do not need to be present to win.
Please use the QR code or link below to access the raffle. A link can also be found on our website.
Three raffle winners will be selected for the following prizes:
1st ($,5000),
2nd ($3,000), and
3rd ($1,500)
This year our top three student sellers will take home a gross percentage amount of the tickets sold by their family.
#1 Top Student Seller: 50%
#2 Top Student Seller: 35%
#3 Top Student Seller: 20%
Example: #1 Top Student Seller; Sold 25 tickets at $30 a ticket totaling $750; Student Seller will take home $375
Now that we are almost halfway through the first quarter, teachers will be contacting those parents of student(s) that are currently carrying a "D" or an "F" in any of their classes. October 4, 2024 is the end of the first quarter. This is not only our responsibility as a college preparatory institution, but it is our ethical duty to let parents know where their student(s) stand, in hopes that as a "team," we can all work together to help each of our students succeed.
Our college visit from Yale was a success. It is always a brand-new experience for each of our students to meet the individuals that can educate them about different colleges/universities in our country.
Next Thursday, September 19, is Senior Ring Mass! Seniors do not report to any classes. They will arrive around 8:45 am and report to the Perez Shelley Gym to find their place in procession and seating. After Mass, it is their time to celebrate with their family, so they will have the day off to go to lunch and spend time with their family. Siblings to any seniors are allowed to go to lunch with their family as well, but must be signed out in the front office. This applies to siblings ONLY (friends of seniors must stay at school)! Last day to provide a Senior Ring is Monday. Thank You!

This week, our seniors participated in their Senior Retreat. Elise Lopez, Director of Lasallian Student Life, led a day of both reflection and activity. Students were encouraged to reflect purposefully about their personal priorities for their last year of high school, knowing that every ending is also a new beginning.
They, of course, will be experiencing these life milestones together. And so, they also participated in activities designed to promote team-building, so much of which depends on the ability to trust one another. In turn, the roots of our ability to trust and be trusted stem from our core Lasallian principles of inclusive community and respect for all persons.
Live Jesus in our hearts. . . . . .
