Dear Parents,
The first two weeks of school have gone by quickly and it has been a great start to the school year. At this point, all students should have a better understanding of the expectations of their teachers as well as the importance of coming to school and coming to school on time. Good attendance is vital to our students’ success. I encourage you to please periodically check on your child’s progress through OnBoard. All student grades and attendance should be up to date for every teacher every Monday. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teachers by email if you have any questions or concerns. Teacher contact information is available on our website. You may also refer to our website for important information and events happening at our school.
The school lobby will be closed at 4:30 every day after school. Students will not be allowed in the lobby after that time. Please make arrangements to pick up your child as close to after school as possible if they do not drive. If they have after school activities, they should only be on campus during the time of that activity or else they will be on campus without supervision.
On Friday we had our annual blessing of the school. We would like to thank Father Frank Pretto for the blessing of our school, our students, faculty and staff. Our students will accomplish many great things this year and this blessing invited God to be with them through their ups and downs along the way.
Our fall sports and extracurricular activities are in full swing, and we encourage all of you to come out and cheer on our students. Thank you for all your support to make St. Michael’s the great school that it is. Have a great three day weekend. Go Horsemen!
Yours in Christ,
Martin C. Sandoval, Principal
A Message from the Deans:
Starting this week, we will be issuing detentions for tardies and dress code violations. Please review the handbook for dress code and make sure your students are on time to class.
As we are entering our third week of school, please be sure to check your students grades on OnBoard. As a reminder, we have a no F policy for participation in activities and athletics, so please help us stay on your students!
While technology is being implemented in our classrooms, we ask your help with reminding students that their cell phones and airpods/earbuds should be put away during class time to help limit distractions in the class (students are allowed to use their phones and headphones during the lunch hour).
Our college and career counselor will be hosting resume workshops for juniors and seniors starting this week on Mondays and Thursdays. Please remind your students to listen thoroughly to all announcements for the information.
The school year has been off to a great start with clubs and activities booming. The Student Council has been hard at work setting the bar for this year's activities. We had an exciting and fun 5 Core Meal for our New Student Orientation, as well as posters and bulletin boards created by the students for our beginning days of school. Many of our clubs have already started meeting and creating networks for the rest of the year. Campus Ministry led a beautiful school blessing today and the student council is getting ready for our Horsemen-Demon pep rally next Friday. The "school spirit" of our students is an incredible thing to witness, and we cannot wait for the rest of the year to come.

The start of the school year is an exciting time of new beginnings, a time for reconnection and, for the faculty and staff, a time to renew our commitment to what makes us Lasallian. For new faculty and staff, their very first day on the job was dedicated to learning about our founder and patron, St. John Baptist de La Salle, and all that makes a Lasallian education special. Returning faculty then spent their first day back attending a retreat geared toward the reinvigoration of our personal vocations as Lasallian educators. Finally, the majority of our faculty participated in the annual 5 Core Meal at which new parents are introduced to the 5 Core Principles and welcomed into the Lasallian family. Together - faculty, parents and, of course, students - we begin another school year filled with hope, optimism, and the Lasallian charism.
The SMHS Spirit Shop will be open Monday - Friday 3:00pm-4:00pm
