Dear Parents,
We are at the midway point of the fourth nine weeks. Teachers and administrators are beginning to reach out to parents of students who currently have a grade of D or F at this point in the semester. Missed assignments and apathy are the main causes for these low grades. It is imperative that students complete all their assignments even if they are absent. Students must meet deadlines and plan ahead if they have athletics or other activities. Students should be referring to their teachers’ Google Classrooms to find out what they missed. Please refer to OnBoard to check your child’s attendance and current grades. Also, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teachers if you have any questions or concerns about their grades.
It is important to remember that St. Michael's High School has a continuous grading system. This means grades are not final until the end of the semester 2 grading period (May 23, 2025). It is also important to remember that students who fall below a 2.0 or earn one F for the semester will be academically ineligible for extracurricular activities in the Fall for the first 9-weeks.
It is hard to believe that prom is tomorrow, senior finals are in less than two weeks, and that graduation is three weeks away. It is important for seniors to avoid senioritis, finish strong, and ensure all graduation requirements are met. We ask that our seniors make good choices and avoid any behavior that could be cause to not be able to participate in commencement. Seniors are to avoid senior pranks and not engage in any other behaviors that damage property and/or disrupt the educational process.
A special congratulations to all our students that were inducted into either the National Honor Society or the National Junior Honor Society on Wednesday. This is a tremendous and well deserved honor for these students.
As always, we appreciate your continued support of our students, our school, and our community. Go Horsemen!!
Yours in Christ,
Martin C. Sandoval, Principal

Distinguished Disciples
Congratulations to sophomore Clare Velasquez and Brother Mariano Lopez for being recognized as Distinguished Disciples by the Archdiocese of Santa Fe Catholic Schools. Distinguished Disciples are Christians who not only follow Christ but emulate HIm with their words and actions. They're fully committed to the ways of God and to fulfilling HIs purpose in their lives.
Clare Velasquez is an incredibly selfless, generous, caring, and compassionate
individual. Through her own initiative, Clare goes out of her way to help peers who are
struggling academically, to lend an ear if they are struggling emotionally, or just to
provide kind words of support and encouragement. She exhibits our five Lasallian Core
Principles through her actions on a daily basis. Clare is respectful of all persons,
participates in individual and school service projects to support the poor and
marginalized, is inclusive in her interactions with peers and members of the community,
and is mindful of God’s presence in all that she does. Clare is a regular participant in the
Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi Music Ministry and regularly volunteers at the
local animal. She is a positive influence on all those around her, leads by
example, and demonstrates that she is a true follower of Christ through her daily
actions. She is the perfect candidate for the Distinguished Disciple Award.
Brother Mariano is a tremendous man of faith who has dedicated his life to God and the
service of children through education as a Lasallian Christian Brother. He dedicates most
of his time teaching religion and social studies and supporting students by attending
their athletic/extracurricular events as well as their retreats. He provides spiritual
guidance to students, faculty and staff, through prayer. He also provides resources, such
as prayer books, faith-based articles, and daily reflections, to help them better understand
their faith in the presence of God. Br. Mariano uses his meager finances to give back to
students or to the school to support those in need or who have been marginalized in our
community. He is actively involved in school community service projects and is
beloved by the entire St. Michael’s community for his selflessness, sacrifice, generosity,
and dedication to our school and to the mission of our Lasallian Catholic faith. He is
truly a Distinguished Disciple, and it is for the reasons outlined above that Br. Mariano
Lopez was chosen for this award.

St. Michael's High School offers the best and most affordable summer camps for kids entering grades K - 8.
Our goal at Camp Horsemen is for every camper to try something different, develop a new skill, increase their confidence, make a new friend, and most importantly have a lot of fun! All of our camps are led by individuals who have years of experience and expertise in their fields. Additionally, St. Michael's students, athletes, and artists are involved with all of our camps, an aspect that only we can offer and a dynamic that camp attendees truly enjoy.
As we continue to mourn the loss, and celebrate the life, of the Holy Father Pope Francis, we remember his profound love and concern for the forgotten, the ignored, the shunned -- those living on the peripheries of society. That focus, which likely will be remembered as the hallmark of his papacy, fits hand-in-glove with the Lasallian core principle of ensuring an inclusive community from which no one is excluded. "Todos, todos, todos," as Pope Francis was fond of saying.
And so, Let us remember . . .
Dear Lord, you showed us during your time on Earth that you have always had a special affection for those who live on the social, geographic, religious and educational peripheries. Help us to encounter you in them, and to see your face in their faces. To honor you, and Francis, let each be more radically committed than ever to being a vehicle through which those on the margins may experience your love.
