Jumari is a tall, albino half-orc dressed in black laborer's clothes and leather armor. She is a novice priestess of Zo-Kalar, the god of life and death, and strives to bring more attention to her god. She works at the Crematorium, under her master Golmon, and as a result always has the scent of death and burnt meat clinging to her.
*Jumari's albinism gives her Light Sensitivity, but she gains an extra bonus feat in return (Skill Focus [Intimidate], which uses her uncanny appearance to good effect).
[Someone on Green Ronin's True20 Forums asked for an example of character creation. Here's the reply I made there. (Originally posted to my [now defunct] True20 Freeport LiveJournal 7/18/2006.)]
Well, let me see if I can reconstruct how my wife made her 1st-level character for the solo campaign I'll be starting up for her soon...
The character concept is a half-orc adept, a priest of the god of life and death. She wants to balance her god's two aspects, both in her abilities and her behavior. In addition to this, she grew up in Freeport's Scurvytown, and has been good at making people nervous from a young age.
Ability scores (after half-orc modifiers): Str +1, Dex +1, Con +2, Int -1, Wis +0, Cha +3. Cha is highest to give her a menacing aura and a high key abilty for her adept powers. Con is next highest to make her tough (for an adept), and able to stay healthy as a corpse-handler. After those two, she felt Str & Dex were more important to survival in the bad part of town than Int & Wis.
She gets 4 skills: Intimidate and Notice from her street-rat days, Knowledge (theology) and Medicine from her training as an acolyte.
She took two powers: Cure and Imbue Unlife. Normally, I would think twice about letting a 1st-level hero start with the latter power, but this solo campaign is a bit of an experiment anyway, and her minions will be as much hindrance as help.
That leaves her two more feats, plus the bonus feats for her background (Night Vision, Weapon Training). She chose Startle for working her Intimidate schtick, and Talented (Knowledge [theology] and Medicine) to show her dedication to her god's teachings, which includes a knowledge of the body and its weaknesses. And Weapon Training will let her wield a scythe, which fits the death-priest image.
Her Natures are Ambitious (she wants Freeport to pay her god more honor than one isolated shrine, and wants to become a powerful adept in her own right) and Stubborn (she's a typically mulish half-orc, and a bit of a workaholic).
The original idea was to make her an albino, or nearly so, because that is how her god is depicted, and it would give her a distinctive, unsettling appearance. I'm still debating what game effects, if any, that would have--possibly Light Sensitivity, but I'm not sure what (if any) little perk to give her to balance that.
