Character Creation

This page will be revised again when the Freeport: The City of Adventure, Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Edition is released in 2014. The GM and some players have access to the Kickstarter backer-only preview PDF, which will be used until the final book is available.

Ability Scores

Use the Purchase method (CRB 115-16), using the High Fantasy power level (20 points).

Starting Level

At the time of the conversion of this campaign to Pathfinder (Summer 2014), characters start at the mid-point of 6th level (29,000 XP, Medium progression; see CRB 30). Starting wealth for these characters is also set at the midpoint between 6th and 7th level (19,750 gp; see CRB 399).

PCs receive maximum hit points for levels 1-2 and average hit points for levels 3-6. For levels 7 and above, roll hit points normally. However, if the result is below half the maximum (e.g., 5 for d10), the character gets half the maximum, minus 1, for that HD (e.g., 4 for d10).

As the campaign progresses, newly-created PCs will start with XP at or just below the lowest current total in the existing party, and will be given starting wealth appropriate to that level.

Races

All standard Core Rulebook races are available. In addition, I will allow the following races from the Advanced Race Guide:

    • Featured Races: Aasimar, Goblin, Hobgoblin, Kobold, Orc, Oread, Sylph, Tiefling, Undine.

    • Uncommon Races: Vanara (see note below about hadozee).

Most alternate race traits from the APG and ARG will be allowed.

A few notes on specific races follow:

Azhari (Freeport: The City of Adventure): This race replaces ifrits in this setting. Ifrit equipment, feats, and spells (ARG 129-131) are available to azhari characters.

Crag Gnome (Freeport: The City of Adventure): This subrace is available, but quite rare away from the Continent.

Hadozee: Hadozee are a subrace of vanara (ARG 206) with gliding wingflaps instead of a tail. They replace the low-light vision and prehensile tail racial traits with gliding wings (see Kobold, ARG 133). Hadozee are native to the jungles of Khaeder (the southern continent), and few come as far north as Freeport, despite their love of ships.

[Note: Hadozee have been converted from the v.3.5 sourcebook Stormwrack, so are not Open Game Content.]

Classes

All classes from the Core Rulebook and Advanced Player's Guide are available. Archetypes and new class features from the ARG will be approved on a case-by-case basis.

In addition, the Freebooter class from Freeport: The City of Adventure is available. Archetypes from that book (for all classes) are allowed.

For clerics, inquisitors, oracles, and paladins, see Gods of Freeport for available deities.

Monks exist in the World of Freeport, but originated in an empire far across the eastern ocean, so are still quite rare and exotic in the Serpent's Teeth.

Prestige Classes

All prestige classes from the Core Rulebook and Advanced Player's Guide will be available.

In the World of Freeport, the Pathfinder chronicler prestige class lacks the world-spanning organization of Paizo's Golarion setting, but otherwise functions as presented in the CRB.
