Height: 6 ft.
Weight: 145 lbs.
Age: 72
Appearance
Issalia has light tan skin and honey brown wavy hair that falls half way down her back. A breeze seems to follow her where ever she goes, though it can get gustier if she is angry. Subcutaneous blue swirls follow across her skin like air currents. To the untrained eye, they look like tribal tattoos that aren’t stationary. Her eyes share the same color of blue as the skin markings. Her clothing is typically light and flowy, much like the air. She does not like restrictive materials.
Personality
Issalia is somewhat shy, preferring to sit back and observe before interacting with others. She however finds the more stoic races like oreads and dwarves too stodgy for her liking. She is curious almost to a fault and has a desire to try everything just to see what it would be like. She is a scholar of experience and tends to learn everything herself. She has the tendency to become fascinated with people or places, and loves mind games
Background
Issalia is from the highlands of Khaeder originally, though it has been a long time since she has been back. Born to a human summoner mother and a half-elf bard father, her planedtouched nature was seen as a blessing to her immediate family, but views suspiciously by the rest of the village she grew up in. In early adolescence, her mother noticed that Issalia would get lost in spellbooks while she was keeping her mother company while she was working. These early experiences forged a bond between the two women and lead to Issalia being encouraged to pursue arcane studies on her own.
Curiosity got the better of her, leading Issalia to apprentice under masters of nearly every magic discipline in town. She however grew bored and decided that none of these were for her. One day while napping in her family’s courtyard, a vision came to her in a dream. An old being spoke to her about blending both her mother’s arcane talents and her father’s charm to create her own school of magic. She awoke with a sense of purpose and set off from her home the next morning to chase the vison she had. After a week of traveling, she reached the forest she saw in her dream, and found a large brown owl sitting on a low-lying branch. She felt the immediate presence of the force in the dream as the owl flew to her and perched on her shoulder. By the end of the day she was leaving with the owl and a new found dedication to a supernatural power that was slowly changing her life.
By her mid-twenties, Issalia had said her farewells to her biological family and took to wandering on her way to catch a boat to the Ivory Ports. About two days travel outside the city, she encountered a woman who taught her about her new found gifts and informed Issalia that she was a witch. Once she had sailed to the Ivory Ports, she studied with an alchemist as a way to supplement her studies. She remained in Blackburn about three years and then moved to the next town. She would frequently uproot and travel, not staying settled for more than five years at a time. Fifty years of study has not yielded a lot of information regarding the source of Issalia’s powers, but she has concluded that she has a patroness that seems to reward her sylph nature and is not evil.
She has traveled all over the continent, though she has decided Rolland is her favorite stop, having lived there three times now. Currently, Issalia has recently moved to Freeport and taken up residency in The Cluster in Drac’s End. She is employed by an alchemist in the Seaside Market and is working to save up some funds to open her own business.
