City Districts

See the Player's Map of Freeport for the location of the major districts within the city.

Bloodsalt

This newest neighborhood [added since the map above was made] is located immediately north of Scurvytown, on land reclaimed since the Great Green Fire. The area is a ghetto for orcs and goblinoids, and other races are wise to stay out.

Locations include: Irontooth Enclave (a community of more "civilized" orcs and half-orcs), The Reclamation Project Compound, Redblade Barracks (the hobgoblin militia who control Bloodsalt).

The Docks

This area includes the majority of the city's waterfront. It is one of the roughest parts of town, largely filled with taverns and inns with such apt names as The Broken Mug and The Rusty Hook.

Locations include: The Diving Fin (a fine seafood restaurant), The One Ring (a fighting pit), Seaside Market (an open-air bazaar), The Shipping News (the town newspaper).

Drac's End

This area was once jungle, cleared for more living space. Expansion ended prematurely, and the area remains the poorest in town--but one of the most honest.

Locations include: The Cluster (a neighborhood populated mostly by students), Fang and Claw (an exotic animals dealer), The Freeport Institute (the city's only school), Tent Town (a shantytown for transients and the very poor).

The Eastern District

This is the home of Freeport's middle class--those who have escaped Drac's End or Scurvytown but haven’t yet achieved the luxury of the Merchant District. The halfling crime boss Finn controls this district's illicit activities.

Locations include: Field of Honor (plaza at the center of the district; site of duels at night), The Halfling Benevolent Association (serves the interests of the city's halflings).

The Merchant District

The wealthiest people in Freeport live here, in large townhouses on well-maintained, paved streets. The top address here is Wave Avenue, which runs the length of the district. Businesses here include the finest in dining and entertainment, and the wealthiest guildhouses.

Locations include: The Freeport Opera House, The Jewelers' and Gemcutters' Guild, The Last Resort (a luxury hotel on the waterfront), Maurice's (the finest dining in Freeport), The Merchants' Guildhouse, Plaza of Gold (at center of district),

The Old City

The original city wall still stands, pierced by five strong gates. The neighborhood is a bit shabby in places, but the seat of power is still here.

Locations include: The Baths, Fortress of Justice (courts and jails), The House of Serenity (the best and most elite brothel in Freeport), Sea Lord's Palace, The Wizards' Guild.

Scurvytown

The "Freebooters' Quarter" is filled with flophouses, weapon shops, and the lowest sort of taverns. "Bad neighbor" businesses, such as tanneries and the town dump, are located here. Crime is rampant, and the Watch only attempts to curb the worst excesses. Once the meanest part of Freeport, Scurvytown is safe only in comparison to Bloodsalt.

Locations include: Dreaming Street (a neighborhood catering to every kind of vice), The Freeport Fishery & Market, The Mouth of Hell (a new nightclub located in an abandoned temple).

The Temple District

Freeport has no official religion, but the pirate god Harrimast has more worshipers here than any other place in the world. The other favorite gods, with the largest temples, are Itona (knowledge), Nodens (the sea), and Sabazion (warriors), but this district also holds many smaller temples to serve the city's diverse population. (See Gods of Freeport for more information.)

Locations include: temples of all sizes and shapes, Godshop (religious supplies), The Hall of the Gods (AKA the Fool's Market; a huge building housing shrines and priests of gods who lack temples in Freeport).

The Warehouse District

Unlike the Docks and Scurvytown, this part of the waterfront is well guarded and maintained, for it serves to store and move the goods of the adjacent Merchant District's residents.

Locations include: Freeport Pilots' Guild, Freland Shipyard (the city's chief shipwrights), Municipal Auction House, Office of Public Records, The Vault (secure storage).

Near Freeport

In addition, Freeport has some locations of interest just outside the city proper:

The Hulks are huge prison barges, decommissioned freighters moored outside the harbor and used to house the worst criminals the city produces.

The Freeport Lighthouse (AKA "Milton's Folly") stands on a small island half a mile south of the city harbor.

The Crematorium, where the city's dead are burned, is located on a rocky isle half a mile to the west.
