Between adventures, she makes ends meet through running a magic shop. One of her specialties is the identification of magic items, and she has been known to undercut her competitors' spellcasting fees if a particularly interesting item is brought to her attention. She employs two assistants, Melchior (male dwarf wizard 5), who staidly runs the business side of the shop, and Prudence (female halfling cleric 4), a bubbly young woman who produces most of the shop's stock of simple potions.
Despite her fame as a local hero and Order of Drac member--or rather, because of it--Shaya dislikes making public appearances, and attends society events only under duress. When she needs to deal with members of the upper crust, she will grudgingly don some modest jewelry and one of her less-stained wizard's robes, but even at her most presentable, she can't hide the perpetual ink stains on her fingers from her constant writing and copying.
