Originally from Silverus, one of the city-states of the Ivory Ports, Damarak was born to a human family of merchants and seafaring traders. Being a planetouched creature, he was regarded as a sign of good fortune from Nodens, god of the sea, and as such was accepted in the community. As an adolescent, Damarak had a strong curiosity about the world around him and beyond. He would frequently work in the family business as a deckhand on the ships his family owned.
Upon reaching adulthood at age 60 and ultimately outliving his parents, Damarak left the merchant trade to a less successful relative and began studying as a cleric as a means to assist the more fragile human race. Though his village mainly worshipped (and depended on) Nodens for good fortune in sea trade, Damarak believes that a god only can provide the inner strength that can drive those people to work toward good fortune. In saying this, Damarak is a cleric of Melkarth, the god of storms and strength.
Damarak is a carefree individual who is easily distracted by the finer things in life such as good company, good drink, and a good adventure. Often times he would spend he free time at various taverns listening to the stories told by sailors of their trials at sea. Unfortunately this behavior was looked down upon by the temple priests and as such Damarak ultimately finished his cleric training at the age of 88 at the Temple of Melkarth in Freeport. In addition to cleric training, he also was trained by the priests to be somewhat effective in combat as this is the way of Melkarth.
Damarak decided that life in Temple District was too claustrophobic for his need to explore and look over the human race. So he began to search for a group of people with which he could explore the world and all of its wonders. He decided to start where most people look for adventurers – the local tavern.
