Extract from report on Malling Guardians in Kent Messenger of 25th August 1917:

DEATH OF MR. HENRY WHITE.

The Chairman said the members of the Board would regret to learn that Mr. Henry White, the Guardian and District Councillor for Wateringbury, passed away on the previous day, after having been laid up for some months. He was a very old member of the two bodies and carried out his duties conscientiously. The Chairman moved that the condolence of the Board and Council be forwarded to the widow and family, and this was agreed to in the usual way.

And later in same paper:

WATERINGBURY,

DEATH OF MR. H. WHITE—An old and much respected inhabitant of Wateringbury passed away on Tuesday in the person of Mr. Henry White, who was in his 77th year. For many years he was the representative of Wateringbury on the Malling Board of Guardians and District Council, being Chairman for some time of the Roads and Footpaths Committee. A great lover of floriculture, he took a keen interest in the old Gardeners’ Society, and contributed materially to the success of its shows. He will also be remembered as a successful farmer and hop-grower. The funeral is taking place to-day (Friday).

The month previously in the Sevenoaks Chronicle and Kentish Advertiser 27 July 1917 the following notice appeared:
