Extract from Kent & Sussex Courier of 5th September 1919

HOP PICKERS IN KENT. Parties of hop pickers are arriving

in the hop districts of Kent, and accommodation is

being found for them at Paddock Wood, Wateringbury

and Yaldlng,in the Medway District. They include many

partially disabled ex-Service men, and a noticeable

feature is the improved appearance of the women and children.

Operations are expected to commence early next week, a»d to

bw general throughout the country by Wednesday. The crop

prospects are said to be better than for several years past.
