The following extract from the Kent and Sussex Courier dated 13 October 1893 was kindly drawn to my attention by Trisha Robynns:

WATERINGBURY

DEDICATION OF THE NEW ORGAN AT ST. JOHN'S.- On Wednesday afternoon the new organ, presented to the Church of St. John the Baptist, Wateringbury, by the churchwardens, was dedicated to the service of God and the use of His church. After this ceremony, Mr. J. Hopkins, the talented organist of Rochester Cathedral, gave a recital, in which he was assisted by Mr. Olyroyd (tenor), who made such a favourable impression at the choral festival at Maidstone last week, and Master Taylor (treble), both of whom belong to the Cathedral choir at Rochester. Their vocal contributions were capitally rendered, and the selections played by Mr. Hopkins were all that could be desired.

The School got a half day's holiday-see Boys school Log (1890-1899).
