Rev Phillips dies (1894)

Extract from London Standard 19 December 1894:

The Rev. S. W. Phillips, vicar of Wateringbury, died at the Vicarage, on Friday, at the age of sixty. Educated at University College, Oxford, he graduated B.A. in 1856, and proceeded M.A. in 1859. having been ordained in 1857. He was successively curate of Ifield, Kent; Romford, Aylesford, and Ickleford, Herts, from 1857 till 1869, when he was presented to the Vicarage of St. Margaret-next-Rochester, where he remained till the close of 1877, when the Dean and Chapter of Rochester presented him to the Vicarage of Wateringbury, near Maidstone, which has an annual value of between £600 and £700, with a house, the population being a little over 1300. Mr. Phillips had been a Surrogate for the Diocese of Rochester since 1870.
