Dungeon Crawl Classics #20: Shadows in Freeport
This errata was originally posted to the Goodman Games forums then archived here (and added to since then).
Throughout: The multiplication sign (×) did not format properly, and has been replaced with apostrophes.
Spine: Shadows in Freeport is Dungeon Crawl Classics #20 (not #19).
Inside front cover, Level 1: Cresh Manor, Main Floor: Add a door between Areas 1-2 and 1-21 (see notes to those rooms).
p. 2, Introduction: "...dragon on the 10th level?" doesn’t match the cover blurb (which says "20th level").
p. 3, Getting the Players Involved: A press gang seems like a pretty minor threat for characters of this level--certainly nothing compared to what the manor holds!
p. 7, Area 1-2 - Entrance Hall: The door described in the third sentence of the read-aloud text does not appear on the map. Add a door to Area 1-21 to the map.
p. 9, Loo: Under Atk and Full Atk, "'3" should be "×3".
p. 9, Mikal: Energy Substitution (p. 8) requires another metamagic feat, so either Spell Focus must be exhanged for a metamagic feat, or Energy Substitution exchanged for another feat.
p. 10, Chain Devil Mnk2: Under Regeneration, "2d6'10" should be "2d6×10".
p. 14, Ferimax Ularaboo: Under Possessions, italicize "summon monster I".
p. 16, Area 1-19 - Hall: Replace the second sentence of read-aloud text with: "Each of the other walls has one closed door."
p. 17, Area 1-21 - Reception Room: Add a door to Area 1-2 to the map. (See notes for Area 1-2.)
p. 18, Fiendish Tendriculos: Under Full Atk, insert "+8 melee" after "tendrils".
pp. 21-22, Area 2-2 - Great Hall: The hall is 100 ft. long, not over 200. The picture on p. 21 shows the doors spaced much more closely together than on the map, and the door at the end of the hall is not a double door.
pp. 22-23, Area 2-5 - Hall Closet: In the first paragraph on p. 23, insert "enough" after "powerful".
p. 25, Area 2-11 - Short Hall: Italicize the second instance of "incendiary trap".
pp. 25-26, Area 2-13 - Study: Fatty Blue's stat block needs a paragraph for his stats while enraged.
p. 26, Area 2-15 - Empty Room: A "flame tongue" is a sword, not a type of armor; either delete these words, or move them to a separate item in the list.
p. 29, Spectre: Under Sunlight Powerlessness, "move or attack action" should be "move or standard action".
pp. 31-32, Area 3-1 - Storeroom: Under Summon, "6th-level spells" should be "6th-level spell."
pp. 32-33, Advanced Gibbering Mouther: Per the MM, Ability Focus may be taken multiple times, but does not stack; each time it is taken, it is applied to a different ability.
Under Skills and feats, delete "('2)" and add a new feat (possibly Weapon Focus [bite] or Ability Focus [engulf or blinding]).
Under Gibbering, the save DC should be 20, which includes a +2 from Ability Focus.
p. 35, Area 3-6 -Cells: Is there any reason the map (p. 64) labels these cells a-h, if they are empty?
pp. 35-36, Area 3-7 - Summoning Room: Italicize "plane shift".
See the notes to p. 61 about Handouts L and M.
pp. 37-39, Area 3-14 - Puzzle Portal: In the first sentence after the italicized paragraph, change "the Cresh" to "Cresh". The summoned monsters should be "CR --", because they represent part of the trap's CR.
pp. 38-39, Bearded Devil: Under Atk and Full Atk, "'3" should be "×3".
Under Infernal Wound, delete "as well as restoring hit points" in the second paragraph; the Heal skill only restores hit points through extended care.
pp. 39-41, Area 3-15 - The Vile Gate: Cresh's vulnerability fear is slashing weapons, so his turn resistance is +1 against that, not fire. Cresh has the webbed fingers corruption, so cannot wear a ring.
p. 41, Natas, Quasit Familiar: See the PHB official errata on polymorph and alternate form.
p. 43, Devil Lizard: Alignment should be "Always neutral evil".
The language of the serpent people is Valossan.
pp. 46-47, Radiant Boy: Under Summon, "6th-level spells" should be "6th-level spell."
p. 47, Revenant: The first paragraph of the sample revenant text should be italicized, and the first paragraph after the stat block should not be.
pp. 42-49, Appendix I: New Monsters: The Devil Lizard first appeared in Creatures of Freeport. The Daeobelinus, Feasting, Radiant Boy, and Vespertiliac first appeared (in v.3.5 form) in The Book of Fiends.
p. 50, Appendix II: New Magic: The Madness domain and its new spells appear in the Divine Rules section of the SRD.
p. 55, Player's Handout A: Add a door beneath the stairs (to Area 1-21). (See notes to Areas 1-2 and 1-21.)
p. 61, Player's Handout L; and Player's Handout M: The illustrations do not depict a proper pentagram; see Area 3-7 on the Level 3 map (p. 64) for the correct image, with crossing lines and an outer circle.
Inside back cover, Level 2: Cresh Manor, First Floor: In Area 1, "overlook to area 1" should read "overlook to area 1-2".
