This adventure was released as part of Free RPG Day, June 18, 2011, and will be made available soon as a PDF from the Green Ronin online store: http://greenroninstore.com/collections/dragon-age-rpg/products/dragon-age-rpg-quickstart-guide-pdf
Because I was unfamiliar with Dragon Age and the AGE system at the time that the Quickstart Guide was released, I asked DA fans at the Green Ronin Forums for clarification on a few points. Many thanks to Hellebore and Elfie for their prompt, helpful responses!
pp. 10-11, Spellcasting: Why are the NPC Hana’s stats discussed here, in the part of the Guide that the players will read? It would be better to highlight this in her entry (page 24) than here.
p. 13, Background and Summary: Where in Ferelden is Stenhold located? Do any other DA products mention it?
Stenhold isn't mentioned anywhere else, however Arl Voychek Neruda is mentioned in the Amber Rage (part of Blood in Ferelden) as being the Arl of the region that includes Sothmere, a town in Southern Ferelden on the edge of the Korcari Wilds. So it can probably be surmised that Stenhold is somewhere in the Hinterlands. [Elfie, 6/20/2011, “Re: Questions about the Free RPG Day Quickstart (spoilers!)”]
pp. 16-17, Alenka the Steward: In her stat block, her Casting Roll is listed as "3d6+". Should there be a number after that plus, and if so, what?
Alenka's Magic is 4 with no focuses, so her casting roll should be 3D6+4 for any spell. [Elfie, 6/18/2011, “Re: Questions about the Free RPG Day Quickstart (spoilers!)”]
Under her Talents, “Chirurgy” and “Lore” should be in bold all-caps, just as Weapon Groups (and her Features and Class Powers) are.
Chris Pramas has confirmed that stunts generated by Arcane Lance are standard stunts, NOT spell stunts. [Allensh, 6/3/2011, “What kind of stunt from Arcane Lance?”]
p. 21, 6. Waypoint Massacre: Encounter 2 gives a one-line description of genlocks, but neither Encounter 6 nor 7 give any description for hurlocks. What do they look like?
Depending on which computer game you go with a hurlock will look like this:
or like this:
Suffice to say I think the DA2 version can get stuffed. It looks like some kind of weird action zombie. [Hellebore, 6/18/2011, “Re: Questions about the Free RPG Day Quickstart (spoilers!)”]
pp. 21-25, 7. Besieged: See note to p. 21 about hurlocks.
The main text states that these genlocks look better armored than the previous group, but no new stat block is given. What changes should be made? Or should that statement in the main test be removed?
Armor Rating is rather abstract in Dragon Age, so the second group of Genlocks could "look better armored" but still have the same armor rating. If you want to, you could always up their Armor to 6, or lower the previous group's armor to 4. Both would be reasonable solutions and shouldn't affect the overall difficulty level too much. [Elfie, 6/18/2011, “Re: Questions about the Free RPG Day Quickstart (spoilers!)”]
p. 22, Fighting Against Yourself: If the GM delegates NPCs action to the players, he or she must decide how much of each stat block to reveal. At the very least, omit the tagline below the name—these are spoilers!
p. 23, Blight Wolf: Hellebore has confirmed that the white beasts on the cover are blight wolves. [Hellebore, 6/18/2011, “Re: Questions about the Free RPG Day Quickstart (spoilers!)”]
p. 26, Epilogue: Character advancement is beyond the scope of a Quickstart Guide, but in the event that these characters are reused for future adventures, how many Experience Points should they receive?
The Set 1 GM's guide lists the following for experience points for a single encounter.
Routine: 0xp (nothing special, simple travel, buying supplies, casual conversations)
Easy: 100xp (overcome difficulty quickly and efficiently, little danger of failing)
Average: 200xp (a real challenge, took some skill and possibly significant resources)
Hard: 300xp (had a tough time of it, many resources expended, mortal peril, possibly character death)

p. 27, [pregenerated mage character]: Chris Pramas has confirmed that stunts generated by Arcane Lance are standard stunts, NOT spell stunts. [Allensh, 6/3/2011, “What kind of stunt from Arcane Lance?”]
